Action Plan

Considerable environmental assessment work has been carried out on-site and off-site to reduce and mitigate risks to human health and the environment. An interim risk management strategy was established, including a remediation project (soil removal and bedrock capping, completed in summer-fall 2016) and installation of an on-site water treatment system (completed in winter 2023). Work is underway to update the long-term risk management strategy for the site, incorporating climate change considerations. Research activities at the site are suspended. The property and facility continue to be maintained and monitored for security.
